Furaibo Japanese Restaurant in Gardena offers a straightforward, no-frills experience centered around hearty, well-executed Japanese comfort food with a special focus on chicken wings, a staple that draws repeat visitors of all ages. Tucked in a busy strip mall along W Redondo Beach Blvd, its modest size and popular menu create a lively, casual atmosphere that often fills up during lunch and dinner hours. Locals tend to come here for a relaxed meal that balances familiar izakaya flavors with quick, consistent service.

The dining room feels approachable rather than sleek—tables are close together, which gives it a communal vibe common in long-standing neighborhood spots. The staff, many having worked here for years, maintain a polite and familiar presence, adding a sense of continuity which regulars seem to appreciate. This steadiness in service and flavor suggests the kind of place where people come for reliable, homey meals rather than rushing through a trendy dining experience.

Furaibo’s menu clearly centers on its signature chicken wings, served with enough punch to please those who came looking for that specific flavor profile—but not too intense to overshadow the broader menu choices. Aside from the famous wings, dishes like agedashi tofu, miso soup, pork cutlet, and beef sashimi offer variety while maintaining that approachable izakaya-style comfort. Lunch courses with options like chicken breast or leg and thigh are popular, making the restaurant a solid choice for a midday break that stretches just enough to satisfy without overwhelming.

Parking can be a challenge, especially during peak times when the strip mall buzzes with people grabbing bites from neighboring spots as well. Those seeking a quieter experience might find early weekday evenings or slightly off-peak lunch hours a better bet. Reservations help, especially if you’re coming with a group or don't want to wait in line during the dinner rush.

For locals and visitors who enjoy casual, flavor-focused Japanese dining in Gardena, Furaibo delivers a dependable mix of traditional tastes and community atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where loyal customers are as likely to chat about their favorite wings as they are to appreciate the unpretentious setting and steady pace of service.

Our usual orders are always Teba-Saki (Chicken wings), Karei Karaage (Fried Fish), Agedashi Tofu, Tori Soboro (Grounded chicken over rice), and Korean BBQ. Very consistent in quality and flavor. Been coming here and the one on Sawtelle in W. LA since 90’s. Never disappointed.

I've been coming here for many many years. With all of their locations, I think this one is the best! The ladies who serve here and have been here for many years. They're very nice and polite. The food here is always heartwarming. Even if it's crowded, it doesn't take too long to get your order. Besides the chicken wings, you should try the other dishes like the fish bass and the salmon delux chazu. This is great value for money. Everyone I've taken here has always been surprised about the place and they always want to come back!

Lovely little restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, well priced and portions. Our Server and her “support team” was very friendly and professional. The only drawback could be the parking as there are quite a few restaurants in the strip mall so parking tends get tight, especially during peak dining hours; and I recommend making a reservation to avoid long wait times as this is a small place and they fill up fast.

I’ve been coming to Furaibo for over 20 years, and it has yet to disappoint. The double teba lunch course remains the true gem — a must-order, especially since it’s not available during dinner hours. While the extra spicy wings aren’t quite as fiery as they used to be, they’re still packed with flavor and nostalgia.

We visited this restaurant at about 7:30 pm. There were no customers in the store at that time, so the waiter entertained us very warmly. The portion of dinner was more abundant than we expected, and the taste was also very good. Although we didn't drink any wine, we were still very satisfied with the dinner. This is a Japanese-style izakaya worth visiting again.

I’ve been a loyal customer of FuRaiBo since 1995. This time, I had the chance to visit their outlet near my hotel in December 2024, as I usually go to the one on Sawtelle Street. Unfortunately, I feel this restaurant needs improvement. When I visited at 7 PM, the place was surprisingly quiet, with only two tables occupied. This was especially noticeable compared to the restaurant next door, like Boiling Point, which had a long line of customers waiting. The menu feels outdated, and the taste, which I used to enjoy, now seems ordinary—nothing special to note. Health-wise, the food also felt a bit concerning. Most dishes were deep-fried or grilled. The steak I ordered had visible burnt char marks. It seemed like the grill they used wasn’t cleaned properly, as the burnt residue clearly came from previous usage. If asked whether I would return, my honest answer would be no. I think this outlet could benefit from refreshing its menu, improving food quality.

Good food and service. I ordered the Jane's course. My wife ordered the Unagi bowl. I preferred her bowl over the checked. The sides were tasty. I want to try the dinner menu as I hear there is more variety.
